Spain defeated the national team of Costa Rica in the first round group stage match of the 2022 World Cup, which takes place in Qatar. The meeting was held in Group E and ended with a score of 7-0.
Spain's national team opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Midfielder Dani Olmo scored an accurate shot. After ten minutes, Marco Asensio shot on goal through an assist from Jordi Alba. 31 minutes into the match Ferran Torres netted the third goal against Costa Rica.
In the 54th minute Torres sealed the double, and in the 74th minute Gavi scored the fifth goal of the Spanish team with a pass from Álvaro Morata. 90 minutes into the match Carlos Soler made it 6-0, the final result in the match was set by Morata, who scored in the 92nd minute.

In another meeting of the first round of World Cup 2022 in Group E, Germany lost to Japan with a score of 1-2.
