Oman beat Papua New Guinea in a destructive fashion, claiming a ten wickets victory with a whopping 38 balls to go. Papua New Guinea got to 129/9 and Oman chased it with ease. The win comes as no surprise since Oman had been favored by many experts and fans to come through easily.

Batting first, Papua New Guinea lost two wickets for the score of zero but the PNG captain Assad Vala and Charles Amini rescued the innings, putting on an 81 runs partnership till the 11.3 Over mark. However, Amini fell to a run-out after making 37 runs. At that point, PNG looked like they might still get to 150-160 but pacer Kaleemullah claimed Vala after he made an impressive 56 runs off 43 balls.

Then Zeeshan Maqsood destroyed the middle-order and eked out three wickets in just one over. Papua New Guinea lost all momentum and only could make 129 despite handy knocks by Vala and Amini. Zeeshan claimed four wickets for 20 runs, becoming just the second captain after Daniel Vettori since 2007 to claim a four-for in T20 World Cup.

Oman didn’t look in any amount of bother versus Papua New Guinea. Jatinder Singh who had been struggling for form showed he has got a lot of left in his tank and slammed 73 runs in just 42 balls. Aqib Ilyas provided a superb anchor role, making 50 runs off 43 balls as the pair carried the hosts to the win and finished the job with a lot of overs left. Zeeshan claimed the man of the match for his superb bowling.
