Slovakia

Slovakia is having a very controversial tournament in Beijing. Craig Ramsey made a very unyielding team that battles in every match and gives the opponents decent resistance. The Slovaks suddenly started the competition with two significant losses to Finland and Sweden - 2:6 and 1:4, which was very disappointing. Fortunately, the Slovaks didn't let up, defeating Latvia 5:2 in the group stage final match. That local success put them in third place in Group C.

.

Germany

Germany was a finalist at the last Olympics in Pyeongchang. Four years ago, the Germans also failed in the tournament group stage, losing all three games. In the playoffs, they could transform themselves and win the silver. This time Toni Söderholm's wards had a weak first part of the tournament, as they hopelessly lost to Canada 1:5 in the first game. Then they nearly lost points against China 3:2, and the day before, they were defeated by the USA 2:3. They still finished third in Group A, but the quality of their play was disappointing.

Expert Betting Tips

Slovakia and Germany made a very modest impression in the group stage of the Olympics. However, we all how the Germans improved four years ago in Pyeongchang. About a dozen people from that squad came to Beijing now, so they have experience of such a transformation. Alas, the Slovaks under Craig Ramsey have never shown how they can gain momentum in major tournaments, so now we may bet on the German national team's victory.

Slovakia and Germany, in the group stage of the Olympics, played total-over matches. In three games involving the Slovaks, 20 goals were scored (6.67 average per game), the Germans had 16 goals (5.33 average per game). The group battles were not decisive anyway, since everyone made it in the playoffs, but in the knockout rounds four years ago, both the Slovaks and the Germans were very productive. With that in mind, we would consider a total over 4.5.

Dominik Cahun is one of the German stars. After the Olympics in Pyeongchang, where he scored 5 points (2 goals + 3 assists) in seven games, the German went to the NHL. He has performed well in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Edmonton, but before the current season, he returned to Europe. In the Swiss championship, Bern managed to play 37 games making 41 points (13 goals + 28 assists). In Beijing, he has already scored once and assisted twice, so it is worth looking at the bet on the total over 0.5 points by Dominik Cahun.
