Australian data connectivity provider Megaport has appointed a new leadership team and arranged to de-merge its fiber assets as it prepares to ramp up its global expansion drive.
The company, which runs the network and cloud interconnect service Megaport Platform, announced plans to expand into new markets throughout Asia, Europe and North America over the next 18 months.
To accommodate its growth efforts, the company has appointed a new CEO, former Microsoft senior director of global network services Denver Maddux. Maddux is replacing founding CEO Bevan Slattery, who will stay on as executive chairman.
Megaport has also promoted Belinda Flanders to the role of EVP for APAC and MEA, and named former Microsoft principal strategic sourcing partner Brynn Maddux as EVP for the Americas and Europe.
Megaport has meanwhile revealed plans to spin off its fiber assets into a new dedicated infrastructure Superloop. The company expects to launch a dark fiber network in Australia in January, and to eventually turn Superloop into a key player in the APAC infrastructure market.
“We are building the only independent, pan-Asian fibre infrastructure provider which is something rather special and unique, so much so that based upon early customer demand I expect Superloop to be break even in its first full year of operation,” Slattery commented.
Superloop is also rolling out a fiber network in Singapore, and is around 70% complete. The network is expected to go live in March, and Megaport hopes the rollout will be complete by around July.
