BroadHop announced its support for the Entry Point Project on Smart
Networks (EPP9), one of the 12 National Key Economic Areas of the
Malaysian government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) to
transform Malaysia into a high income economy.

The EPP9 on Smart Networks is aimed to address affordability and
quality of services by network providers and to sponsor a streamlined
implementation of smart network features by network providers in
providing differentiated pricing based on service prioritization,
usage cap, and application specific packages to users.

In the recent Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (SKMM)
seminar on Smart Networks, Muhammad Ismail Ahmad, Director of
BroadHop, APAC Malaysia presented on Intelligent Networks - Policy 2.0
& Use Cases. Ismail pointed out the current network operator pain
points including the complexity Malaysian operators face in delivering
innovative services, the back end monetization gap, integration
challenges between the network, applications and back-office as well
as the issues with scalability, performance and service velocity.

Ismail also noted that with advancements in policy management
capabilities, operators are now able to take advantage of the shift
from Policy 1.0 or network centric bandwidth management to Policy 2.0
application centric management. Policy 2.0 provides a platform for
innovation and revenue generation allowing personalized polices or
policy to the handset, micro and macro Value Added Services (VAS),
loyalty based services, enhanced content and flexible, real time solutions.
