Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) has partnered with Viva Communications and Cignal TV to launch Celestial Movies Pinoy (CM Pinoy) in the Philippines.

CM Pinoy is touted to be the first fully localized Chinese movie channel in the Philippines. The channel will launch in January 2016 exclusively on Cignal TV in its basic tier, reaching over 1 million subscribers.

CM Pinoy will be fully “Tagalized”. The movies and on-air presentation will be dubbed in a mixture of Tagalog and English.

“The combination of our unparalleled Chinese blockbusters and programming experience, Viva’s local expertise, and Cignal TV’s extensive coverage will make Celestial Movies Pinoy a premier TV destination in the Philippines,” said Ofanny Choi, EVP of TV networks at Celestial Tiger Entertainment.

Vicente del Rosario Jr., chairman and CEO of Viva Communications, said Filipinos are now beginning to appreciate Asian productions and actors. He added that Tagalog-dubbed content is much easier to understand and enjoy which will expand its appeal to a much wider audience.

“As part of our commitment in delivering quality and awesome content to our subscribers nationwide, Cignal TV is excited to exclusively distribute CM Pinoy, a movie channel that brings the world's most extensive collection of Chinese movies in the language that our Filipino audience will understand," said Oscar A. Reyes Jr., COO of Cignal TV.
