Vodafone NZ will complete the rollout of its 3G network, to cover 97% of the population, by May 31, a year ahead of schedule, the company said. The operator has over 500,000 3G subscribers. NSN is installing the network.
Tata Communications has acquired an additional 30% stake in South African operator Neotel. The stake had been owned by operators Eskom and Transnet, Neotel said.Tata Com, in association with subsidiary Tata Africa Holdings, is now the controlling shareholder of Neotel.
The GSMA is working with Dialog Telekom to deploy ten solar and wind-powered base stations in Sri Lanka as part of its Green Power for Mobile program.
