Nortel launches a trial of its wireless network in the Jewish settlement town of Ariel in the West Bank. The firm said the trials would pave the way for the rollout of advanced broadband and wireless services for Ariel residents and municipal employees.

Brokerage firm China Galaxy Securities rolls out a mobile securities investment service in Shanghai, providing investors access to real-time trading at any place where there is Internet access. The service is jointly provided by China Unicom, Hewlett-Packard, and Intel, the firm said.

Nokia powers Vodafone Australia's launch of its updated 3G broadband network with HSDPA technology. The companies said the commercial launch of the service followed an extensive trial of the solution and close cooperation between Vodafone and Nokia in Australia.
