Globe sets up new subsidiary in Spain

Philippines telco Globe Telecom has expanded its international footprint by setting up a subsidiary in Spain to provide telecom services for Filipinos in the country.

The new subsidiary, dubbed Globetel Espana, will offer voice, SMS, load top-up and mobile data in the market.

At the same time, Globe Telecom signed a MoU with Madrid-based MVNO Ingenium Outsourcing Services (IOS), as the company aims to launch services in Spain within the year.

“This also solidifies our European presence, and with the combined Filipino population of those working in a variety of sectors, permanent migrants, seafarers and those visiting for business or leisure, we believe this is the appropriate time for the unveiling of more direct services for the local Filipino community there.”

Besides Spain, Globe Telecom has retail presence in seven countries including the US, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Canada and Italy.

Telstra Global, the international arm of Australian incumbent carrier Telstra, has also just announced it has increased its European footprint.
