Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute (SXPI), the first degree-level vocational college in China, has revamped its campus network with a routing and switching system from Juniper Networks.
The new network provides the school with the scalability to meet exponential growth in demand for the next few years and supports subscription-based network access for smartphones and tablets that are prevalent among its student population of 20,000.
The solution addresses a key issue for the university: how to bill students for network access fees – primarily to pay for their international data traffic – when they use mobile devices.
“Deployment of the Juniper Networks campus network is a big step forward, enabling us to build a smart campus that offers a new generation of mobile apps to staff and students,” commented Su Xinglong, director of Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute's Network and Information Center.
