Korea's POSDATA will supply equipment to Venezuelan operator Omnivision for the latter's mobile Wimax rollout.
The Korean firm said it will provide Omnivision with around 300 Wimax base stations and more than 30,000 terminals for the project's initial phase this year.
Omnivision aims to expand Wimax coverage from 8 million in Caracas to 28 million nationwide in three years, according to POSDATA. Thus, the operator plans to increase network rollout from 2009 onwards.
POSDATA said it has been supplying 802.16e-based systems and terminals in Asian countries.
Omnivision is the first mobile Wimax operator in Latin America and has provided services running on the 2.5GHz band since July 2007.
