The Ministry of Information Industry's China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR) has chosen Spirent Communications for large-scale testing of 10-Gigabit core routers. According to Spirent, its test solutions will enable CATR to test the performance of core routers under high-capacity configurations and extreme network conditions found in real-world operations.

Spirent test solutions allow network equipment manufacturers and service providers to accurately measure the performance and stability of routers and switches, the company says. The test systems provide wireline packet generation and analysis, alongside sophisticated QoS models for simulation of real-world network scenarios.

The CATR test environment consists of 16 ultra-high-capacity 10Gbps packet over SONET interfaces.
