Google exec takes over at AOL

Tim Armstrong, a senior vice-president at Google, is taking over as chairman and chief executive of AOL, after the long beleaguered company decided to shake up its top management. Armstrong replaces Randy Falcom, while chief operating officer Ron Grant will also leave as a result of his appointment.

 

Telstra group MD resigns

Telstra's group managing director Bill Stewart will resign at the end of the month, becoming the last of the "four amigos" to announce plans to leave the company and return to the US. Kate McKenzie, currently GMD for Telstra Wholesale will replace Stewart, effective March 30. Her replacement at Telstra Wholesale will be announced in the coming weeks, Telstra said.

 

 

India's Bharti Airtel appoints new deputy CEO

Bharti Airtel has named Sanjay Kapoor, to the new position of deputy chief executive to look after mobile, telemedia and direct-to-home TV service. Kapoor was earlier the company's president for mobile services and he will report to chief executive Manoj Kohli.

The company has appointed Atul Bindal as president of mobile services and while K Srinivas as joint president of telemedia services.

 

Bill Morrow to head Clearwire
US operator Clearwire has named former Vodafone KK Japan chief Bill Morrow as CEO. Co-founder and current CEO Benjamin G. Wolff will continue with the company as co-chairman, a position he will share with current chairman Craig O. McCaw.
