Russian carrier GlobalNet chose Ciena for the upgrade of its metro optical network, based on Ciena’s 4200 Advanced Services platform.

The newly evolved architecture will include Ciena’s 40G technology and WaveLogic coherent optical processors, supporting the flexible and scalable delivery of services to GlobalNet’s customer base.

Ciena’s coherent technology enables GlobalNet to protect past investments and transmit four times as much information as across existing 10G networks.

By upgrading its metro network to support a total capacity of 1 Tbps, GlobalNet can meet the growing bandwidth needs of its customers and support the requirements of mission-critical applications.
