Shin Satellite announced on Monday that its Thaicom 3 Satellite was deorbited after experiencing a power loss to such an extent that it could not provide further service.

However, the company added that the deorbit of Thaicom 3 - a Spacebus 3000A model built by Alcatel Alenia Space and launched in 1997 - had no adverse effect as its customers had already been transferred to the new Thaicom 5 satellite launched earlier this year.

Thaicom 3 had been relocated to 50.5 Degree East to serve its new mission in the Middle East area and South Asia.
