Messaging and VoIP company Viber on Tuesday announced its latest Viber update for Windows Phone. The new version (Viber 4.2) combines new features and enhancements for Windows users, including the popular “Hold & Talk” feature that lets users send instant voice messages.

Hold & Talk allows users to record messages which the recipient can hear even as they are being recorded.

Other enhancements include standalone sticker menu, design improvements, a new call screen and default background, and various performance enhancements including faster loading of conversations.

“Viber users love the speed, simplicity, and freedom that the app provides, allowing them to communicate however they like--freely,” Viber CEO Talmon Marco said Marco in a statement.

“With the latest version of Viber, we are pleased to bring one of our most popular features to Windows Phone users--Hold & Talk--a convenient way to communicate with your friends whenever you like.”

Viber has 350 million unique registered downloads, and in June announced that it has crossed 100 million concurrent active users. It supports platforms including Windows, OS X and Linux on traditional PC platforms, as well as Android, BlackBerry 10, iOS and Windows Phone.

Though Viber faces competition from other messaging apps like WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk, it has a strong presence in Asia, where a third of its users live. The company relies on a variety of premium services to make money, and has previously stated that it does not intend to charge for basic Viber to Viber messages and calls.
