The entire village of Murshidabad, India, turned out for the wedding of Irin Biswas to Safikul Islam. 'They said gubul [I do] thrice and the marriage was complete,' said Maulana Alamgir, the Muslim cleric who married the couple.
In this case though, the entire village was listening to Mr. Islam over the speakerphone on a cellphone. He is a labor supervisor in Kuwait who was unable to afford airfare to his own wedding. Safikul and bride will meet for the first time in October when he comes home for holidays.
