WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis of the United States met Hector Garcia of the Dominican Republic on January 8 in Washington, DC.
The fight was over in Davis' favor by TKO after his opponent refused to continue the fight in the eighth round. Thus, Gervonta defended his WBA lightweight title.
Davis fought his compatriot Rolando Romero in May, 2022. In that fight, Gervonta knocked out his opponent in the sixth round. Davis now has 28 wins (26 by KO) and no losses. Garcia has 16 wins (10 by knockout) and one loss.
