Oscar-winning screenwriter working on  series about Muhammad Ali

Streaming service Peacock began work on the creation of an 8-episode series "Excellence: 8 Fights," based on the life and career of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.


The project is produced by the major studios CBS Studios and UCP, a division of Universal Studio. Oscar-winner Kevin Willmott will be the screenwriter. Regé-Jean Page (star of "The Bridgertons") has taken on the role of executive producer.

Muhammad Ali's last fight of his boxing career was against Canadian Trevor Berbick in December 1981. Then he won by unanimous decision of the judges.


Muhammad Ali passed away on June 3, 2016. He had 56 wins in the professional ring (37 by knockout) and five defeats.
