WBC Strips Charlo Of Championship After His Arrest

American middleweight boxer Jermall Charlo has been stripped of his WBC title because he was arrested for driving under the influence. Thus, Dominican boxer Carlos Adames became the current WBC middleweight champion.

WBC statement
The WBC will closely work with PBC in securing the best course of action to attend to Jermall's needs at this moment.

Charlo last fought against American Jose Benavidez in November 2023. In that fight, which went the full distance, Jermall won by unanimous decision. He has 33 wins (22 by knockout) and no losses in his professional boxing career.

Adames last entered the ring against Julian Williams in June 2023. That fight, which was stopped in the ninth round, ended in favor of Carlos by technical knockout. He has 23 wins (18 by knockout) and one loss.
