Aspinall Explains Why He Put His Hand On Jones' Shoulder When They Met

UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall explained why he put his hand on current champion Jon Jones' shoulder during a press conference at Arnold's Sports Festival UK.

Aspinall stated on his YouTube channel:

I think he thought I was putting my hand on his shoulder being disrespectful. But I wasn't there to be disrespectful. I was doing it in a friendly way, I'm not trying to cause any beef. I'm trying to fight the guy and take his belt.

Jones last fought against Ciryl Gane in March 2023 at UFC 285. In that fight, Jon earned a first-round submission victory. He has 27 wins and one loss to his name in mixed martial arts.

Aspinall last entered the octagon against Sergei Pavlovich in November 2023 at UFC 295. Tom won that fight by knockout in the first round and won the UFC interim heavyweight title. He has 14 wins and three losses on his record.
