Atlético's Goalkeeper Oblak Named Best Player Of The Week In Champions League

Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak of Atlético Madrid has been named the best player of the past week in the UEFA Champions League, as announced by the organization's press service.

In the second leg of the round of 16 against Inter Milan, the 31-year-old goalkeeper of Atletico saved two penalty kicks in the post-match shootout, helping his team win 2-1.

Atlético, under the guidance of Diego Simeone, advanced to the next round of the main European club competition, winning 4-2 in the post-match shootout. This was after a narrow 1-0 defeat in the away leg.

Oblak has been guarding Atletico's goal since 2014, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the 2027/28 season. In the current season, he participated in 42 matches across all competitions, conceding 52 goals and achieving 12 clean sheets. Transfermarkt estimates the Slovenian at €35 million.

Atlético will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-final, with Atletico's chances of winning the competition increasing to 5% after their victory over Inter.
