The press service of Spanish La Liga club Barcelona announced that they reached an agreement on the transfer of defender Mikayil Faye, who plays for the Croatian Second League team Kustošija.
According to the source, the contract with the 18-year-old Senegalese defender is valid until June 2027, and Faye himself will start to receive playing practice in Barcelona Athletic, the reserve team of the Blaugrana, playing in the Primera RFEF (the third highest level football division in Spain). The amount of compensation in the contract of the Senegalese will be €400 million.
Chelsea FC of London and Borussia Dortmund had previously expressed interest in Faye.
In the 2022/2023 season the club from Zagreb scored 34 points and finished eleventh, last but one place in the Second League table, managing to keep their place in the playoffs. Faye himself played 13 games for Kustošija, scoring one goal.
