French striker Karim Benzema of Al-Ittihad is reportedly disappointed with his life in Saudi Arabia and wants to leave the team, according to Relevo.
According to sources, the forward recently purchased a new home in Madrid and has no intention of returning to Saudi Arabia. It is reported that Al-Ittihad are reluctant to part ways with Benzema until his current contract expires over concerns for their country's image. It’s worth noting that the financial terms of the forward’s current contract are unlikely to be matched in any European club.
Recent reports in various media outlets suggest that Benzema has a conflict with Al-Ittihad's coach, Argentine Marcelo Gallardo.
The 36-year-old footballer moved to the Saudi club from Real Madrid last summer. During his time there, he has played in 29 matches across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists. Transfermarkt estimates the player at 15 million euros.
Previously, RMC Sport reported that Benzema has approached Al-Ittihad's management with a request for a temporary leave from the team.
Lawyer Hugues Vigier, representing the interests of the French forward, stated that the player receives threats in Saudi Arabia.
