Former Real Madrid head coach Fabio Capello has spoken out about the long competition between Argentina's Lionel Messi and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo.
Capello told Sport:
Ronaldo is a great player who has won titles and Golden Balls, but he is not a genius like Messi. For me, whenever they ask me about Cristiano and Messi, I always say Messi. Ronaldo is a great player who shoots, creates, and does everything, but he is not a genius... It's as simple as that!
Messi has played for Inter Miami since the summer of 2023. In the current MLS season, the Argentine has played nine games for the club in all competitions, in which he scored nine goals and made five assists.
Ronaldo has featured in 37 matches for Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr in all competitions this season, scoring 36 goals and making 12 assists. He has been playing for the Saudi Arabian club since the start of 2023.
