Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modrić said that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be his last tournament with the national team.

"I know I have already reached a certain age and that this is my last tournament for the Croatian national team," Modrić was quoted as saying by Globo.

In June, Modrić, 36, was named Croatia's footballer of the year for the 10th time overall and the sixth time in a row. In 2018, he won the Ballon d'Or.

Croatia will play in the same quartet as Belgium, Canada and Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, which runs from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18.
