FIFA World Cup 2030 To Be Held In Six Countries

The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be held on three continents and in six countries for the first time, according to a statement on the International Football Federation (FIFA) website.

The FIFA Council approved Spain, Portugal and Morocco as the main hosts for the tournament at a meeting on Wednesday, October 4. Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will also host three games as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations since the first ever World Cup, held in 1930.

FIFA chief Gianni Infantino made the following comment:

In 2030, we will have a unique global footprint, three continents — Africa, Europe and South America — six countries.

In June, Saudi Arabia withdrew its bid to host the 2030 World Cup due to competition. Chile also submitted a joint bid with Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
