Former RFEF President Rubiales Faces 2.5-Years For Kissing Player Without Consent

The Spanish Prosecutor's Office has requested a 2.5-year prison sentence for the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, for kissing a footballer in the lips without her consent at the 2023 Women's World Championship final.

After the Spanish women defeated England, Rubiales kissed the player Jennifer Hermoso.

According to El Pais, the Prosecutor's Office is asking for two and a half years of imprisonment for the official. Rubiales is facing charges of sexual assault and pressure. It is reported that the prosecution is also requesting one and a half years for the former team coach, Jorge Vilde, former head of the federation's marketing department, Ruben Rivera, as well as the sports director of the RFEF, Albert Luque.

Earlier, the Spanish Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for the former president of the organization, Rubiales. Hermoso herself has stated that the scandal with the kiss made her stronger.
