Guardiola Says Both Messi And Haaland Deserve Ballon d'Or This Year

English Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has spoken out about who will win the Ballon d'Or this year. According to the coach, the striker of the Citizens Erling Haaland deserves to win the trophy as much as Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi.

Manchester Evening News quotes Guardiola as saying:

I always said that the Ballon d'Or had to be two sections: one for Messi and one for the others. So Erling Haaland should win. We won the treble because he scored 50 million goals. Both deserve it.

Recall, the full list of nominees for the award has earlier been made public, led by Inter Miami and Argentina striker Lionel Messi. Kylian Mbappe of PSG and Manchester City forward Erling Haaland are also in the top three.

It should be noted that Al-Nasr striker Cristiano Ronaldo was not included in the list of nominees for the first time in 19 years. The ceremony of awarding the Ballon d'Or will be held on October 30.

Earlier, Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe said that Lionel Messi deserves to win Ballon d'Or this year.
