The World Cup champion and eight-time Ballon d'Or winner is only surpassed in this statistic by Cristiano Ronaldo, who had 622 million followers at the time of publication.
Previously, the Argentinian forward became the most popular athlete in the USA, surpassing basketball legend Michael Jordan. After defeating Real Salt Lake, Inter Miami head coach Gerardo Martino praised Messi's performance.
Messi has been playing for the MLS club Inter Miami since 2023. His contract with Inter Miami runs until 2025.
