Midfielder Wirtz Of Bayer Leverkusen Named Bundesliga's Best Player Of 2023/2024 Season

According to the official Bundesliga website, midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and the German national team has been recognized as the best player of the 2023/2024 season in the German football championship.

In the finished season, the 21-year-old midfielder of Bundesliga played in 32 Bundesliga matches, scoring 11 goals and making 12 assists. Wirtz's current contract with Bayer expires at the end of June 2027, and the Transfermarkt website estimates the player at 110 million euros. According to Bild on May 10, Real Madrid is seriously considering purchasing Wirtz in 2025.

For the first time in their history, the Leverkusen club finished at the top of the Bundesliga table and became the country's champion accumulating 90 points in 34 matches of the season. Besides, the team achieved this feat without suffering any defeats throughout the tournament. Moreover, the team under the guidance of coach Xabi Alonso may win the German Cup if they win the final against Kaiserslautern and win the Europa League if they beat Italy’s Atalanta in the final.
