Real Madrid Defender David Alaba Tears Anterior Cruciate Ligament

Real Madrid defender David Alaba was injured in the match of the 17th round of the Spanish Primera against Villarreal. The player suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee, reports the club's official website.

Alaba was replaced in the 35th minute of the game in Madrid, which ended in favor of Real Madrid with a score of 4:1. In the coming days, the Austrian footballer will undergo surgery.

In the current season Alaba played 19 matches for the Madrid club and did not mark any productive actions.

Earlier, two other Real Madrid players suffered cruciate ligament rupture this season: goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and defender Eder Militao.

Alaba moved to Real Madrid in May 2021, turning down an offer from Liverpool.
