Tottenham May Lose Ten Points For Defoe Transfer That Took Place 15 Years Ago

English Premier League (EPL) club Tottenham, may be stripped of ten points for irregularities in the transfer of Jermain Defoe to Portsmouth, which took place 15 years ago, The Times reports.

According to the source, the reason was breaches of agents' rules during Defoe's transfer to Portsmouth. The English Football Association (FA) said that they intend to examine new evidence in this case.

Recall, 15 years ago Tottenham sold Defoe to Portsmouth for £ 7.5 million. After 12 rounds of the current EPL season, the Londoners go in fourth place in the standings with 26 points.

Earlier, another EPL club Everton was stripped of ten points for violation of financial fair-play. There was also information that Chelsea and Man City may be removed from the Premier League if the clubs prove the violation of financial rules.
