UEFA May Expel Barcelona From Champions League

Spanish football club Barcelona faces exclusion from the Champions League due to violation of the financial regulations of the European Football Association. This is reported by Die Welt.

According to the source, the latest annual report of the heavily indebted club includes documents on revenues of hundreds of millions of euros - for example, from the sale of future television and marketing rights, as well as from other sports. However, they do not affect UEFA's assessment. A source in the association said that the club's balance sheet is "a mess".

Note that in November 2023, the Catalans were fined €500,000 by UEFA for violating financial fair-play. The UEFA audit Commission concluded that the Blaugrana included financial resources received from intangible assets in its sources of income.

Recall that the court is also investigating the case of Negreira concerning the club. It is reported that in case Barcelona are proven guilty, the club may be declared bankrupt.
