Adesanya announces plans to leave MMA in five years

Former UFC middleweight champion New Zealander Israel Adesanya said he plans to leave mixed martial arts in five years.

Israel Adesanya
I've been in the UFC for five years, right? To be honest, I won't be here in five years. I've got other things in my life ... I love this stuff and I'm damn good, but I never get attached to MMA and I'm going to retire at the topю

Adesanya will make his rematch with the promotion's reigning middleweight champion, Alex Pereira of Brazil, on April 8 in the main event of UFC 287, which will take place in Miami, S.C.

Adesanya and Pereira first met in November at UFC 281. Israel was defeated by TKO in the fifth round and lost his UFC middleweight championship belt. Adesanya has a record of 23 wins and two losses.
