Dvalishvili and Sterling are UFC lightweight fighters with longest winning streaks

On March 12, the UFC Fight Night 221 tournament was held in Las Vegas (USA), where the representative of Georgia Merab Dvalishvili defeated Russian Petr Yan in the main event of the evening.

In this confrontation, Dvalishvili defeated Yan by unanimous decision of the judges. Thus, he earned the eighth victory in a row at flyweight, catching up with his friend, teammate and the champion of the category Aljamain Sterling.

Second place is shared by Rafael Assunção and Renan Barão. Yan, who had a seven-win streak until 2021, is in third place.

Yan's loss at UFC Fight Night 221 was the third in a row. Previously, Petr lost by split decisions to Aljamain Sterling and Sean O'Malley. The 30-year-old Russian has 16 wins and five losses in MMA under his belt.

Dvalishvili, 32, was on an eight-fight winning streak in the world's strongest league before his fight with Yan. The athlete from Georgia had his 16th victory with four losses.
