Makhachev: I Won't Fight Until I'm 40, Maybe Just A Couple More Years

Current UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev said that he wants to win the championship belt in one more weight division before his career is over.

Islam Makhachev, quoted by Match TV
The perfect ending to a career? To win both belts, to defend both belts. That's the highest goal for me right now. I won't perform until I'm 40, maybe for a couple more years.

Makhachev had a rematch with Alexander Volkanovski, who holds the featherweight division title, at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi this October. Islam won that fight by knockout in the first round.

The first fight between Makhachev and Volkanovski took place in February of this year at UFC 284. Islam won by unanimous decision. He has 25 wins and one loss on his record.
