UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has moved into the number one spot on Sherdog's pound-for-pound list, pushing UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski into second place.
Makhachev and Volkanovski met on February 12th at UFC 284. The fight, which went the distance, ended with a unanimous decision in favor of Islam.
Makhachev became the UFC light heavyweight champion in October 2022. At that time, he choked Brazilian Charles Oliveira at UFC 280.
Makhachev made his mixed martial arts debut in August 2010 against Magomed Bekbolatov. In that fight, Islam won by unanimous decision. He has 24 wins and one loss on his record.
