Velasquez released on $1 million bail pending trial

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was released on $1 million bail. Judge Arthur Bocanegra found that the previously untried Velasquez wasn't a flight risk.

Recall that Cain was arrested in February of this year. According to investigators, he was involved in a car chase in San Jose with 43-year-old Harry Eugene Goularte, accused of molesting his child. Velasquez allegedly fired several shots from a handgun. Goularte's stepfather, who was also in the car, was wounded as a result. Velasquez had previously been denied bail three times.

Velasquez will have to be under house arrest and wear a GPS bracelet after being released on bail. The next court hearing is set for Nov. 21.

Velasquez faced current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in his last fight, which took place in February 2019. Cain suffered a first-round knockout loss in that confrontation.

Velasquez made his UFC debut against Australian Brad Morris in April 2008. That fight ended in favor of Kane by TKO in the first round. He has 14 wins and three losses under his belt.
