Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum approached Francis Ngannou on his social media accounts with an offer to fight him under the PFL banner.

Werdum, 45, last fought against his compatriot Renan Ferreira as part of the PFL 3 tournament held in May 2021. The fight was ruled NC due to a referee's mistake. Werdum has 24 wins, nine losses and one draw.
Ngannou, 36, last fought Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in January 2022. Francis won that fight by unanimous decision. He has 17 wins and three losses in mixed martial arts.
