Evil Geniuses defeated Paper Rex in the final of VALORANT Champions 2023 and became the tournament champion. The meeting ended with a score of 3:1 (13:10 on Split, 11:13 on Ascent, 13:5 on Bind and 13:10 on Lotus).
In the championship playoffs, Evil Geniuses defeated EDward Gaming and DRX before losing to Paper Rex and falling into the lower bracket. In the lower bracket, the team defeated LOUD and won over Paper Rex in a rematch.
Evil Geniuses took first place and earned one million dollars of prize money. In turn, Paper Rex received $400,000 and LOUD earned $250,000.
The last time EG won the championship of a major LAN was in 2019, when the club's CS:GO lineup won at SLTV StarSeries VIII. Prior to that, the organization won trophies at GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor in 2018 and the 2018 Halo World Cup.
VALORANT Champions 2023 took place from August 6 to 26 at LAN in Los Angeles, USA. 16 teams competed for $2.25 million in prize money, of which one million went to the winner.
Previously, the VALORANT Champions 2023 prize pool was increased by $20 million thanks to selling skins. The participants will receive half of the revenue.
