Valve has updated the rules of holding RMR-tournaments on CS:GO.

Developers have published a list of changes on GitHub. An increase in the number of participants is one of the main innovations, as well as holding one more qualification.

A list of rules changes for RMR tournaments on CS:GO:

  • A closed qualifiers stage has been added;
  • Half of the teams will receive invitations to closer qualifiers according to their rating (statistics based on the results of tournaments from Valve and third-party operators);
  • The number of participants in the closed qualifiers is doubled compared to the slots in the major for each region ( 38 teams for Europe, 12 teams for America, and 8 for Asia);
  • There will be at least one closed qualification in every region.

The first major in 2023 will be held in Paris, France, and will be hosted by tournament operator BLAST.  The BLAST Paris Major 2023 will be held from May 8-21 with a prize pool of $1.25 million.
