The Heat need to go the extra mile to win the title and the team still has a chance to succeed. What matters is the decisions Spoelstra will make as the series progresses. His coaching abilities helped Miami win their last away game against Denver. Kevin Love's second appearance on the floor didn't help. So more often, the Heat had to return to a five-man option, letting in Caleb Martin for the position of a heavy forward. Bam Adebayo is the club's most consistent player in the finals: he scored 20+ points in all three games. In the postseason, Jimmy Butler is hitting just 42.6% of his shots from the field, and even Gabe Vincent is more efficient offensively right now. Kyle Lowry is shooting well from beyond the arc, and Duncan Robinson is scoring just in time.

Butler had his best game in a long time, but his 28 points did not help the Heat win 94-109. Michael Malone's squad rarely shot from beyond the arc; only the leaders were helpful enough. Newcomer Christian Brown, who came off the bench and made 7 of 8 shots, was an unexpected 3rd option on the court. He scored 15 points. They tried to limit Aaron Gordon's role, but he shot at the right moment and assisted his teammates five times.

So far, one of Denver's worst players in the series is Michael Porter, Jr. His long shot has become his most important skill set, and he is hitting just 15.8% of his three-pointers in the Finals. On defense, Porter Jr. is also slipping, and he's been supplanted for a while by young Brown. Christian had four steals in the previous three games, his best performance for the Nuggets. Bruce Brown, Aaron Gordon, and Jokic have been hitting well from beyond the arc, while Kentavius Caldwell-Pope has been less consistent than in the series with the Lakers.

Two of the three final games were under one, and the totals the bookmakers are putting up are getting more modest. Denver has trouble offensively, and the first thing to do is to use long-range artillery. The Nuggets and Heat lead in three-point percentage for a reason, and there's room for improvement. True, the pace of the game is still a bit slow, and the offense often ends up in the final seconds of possession. Butler is in good shape, shoots well from midrange, and needs to be more aggressive.
