Stade de la Meinau
Strasbourg were back on target in their 1-0 win over Metz FC. After falling to a defeat and a draw in the games before, it was a relief for the team to get back to winning ways. There is little insight on if Strasbourg will be able to grab another win when they face RC Lens.
Lens have not been the team they once were last season and it is unclear how long their poor start will last. Lens need a turn around after 4 defeats, 1 draw and 1 win in 5 games. The team looks disoriented since the beginning of the campaign but getting a win here might just be what they need to kick start their season.Grab Your Signup Bonus
Strasbourg will be aiming to capitalize on the opposition's poor form and push for another win. Strasbourg themselves have not had an excellent start but after their last hard fought win over Metz, the team is looking motivated and raring for another victory.
Strasbourg's first 6 games in the campaign, ended in 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. Their last match ended in a 1-0 win over Metz FC, courtesy of Habib Diarra's late goal. Metz FC have been a stubborn opponent to play against, especially on their home ground, but Strasbourg managed to steal the win.
Strasbourg have failed to beat Lens in their last 2 encounters. They lost the most recent match 2-1 and played a draw in the previous. Maybe they might just change that narrative in this game.
Strasbourg are 5th with 10 points and a goal difference of -1.
- Less than 4.5 cards in 9/10 games.
- Less than 10.5 corners in 8/8 games.
RC Lens has offered no pleasure to their fans this season after enduring such a difficult start to the campaign. Now there's growing worry about how deep the fall of the team truly is.
Lens need a response after winning just 1 of their last 6 games. They managed to beat Toulouse 2-1 at home last weekend after 4 defeats and 1 draw in their previous 5 league matches.
Congrats to the RC Lens team for turning the game around. Cesar Gelabert scored for Toulouse in the 33rd minute and then Wesley Said and Morgan Guilavogui completed the comeback for Lens to secure all 3 points.
With their first win secured, they will be hoping to get another when they face Strasbourg. Unfortunately, Strasbourg offers little hope for the Lens team especially on their home ground. The two met on this ground in January and the game ended as a 2-2 draw. RC Lens will need to get back to the team they once were if they must win this game.
Lens are 16th on the table, with 4 points and a goal aggregate of -6.
- Without a clean sheet in 8 games.
- Both teams scored in 6/8 games.
- First to concede in 5/5 games.
Head to Head
In their 20 meetings, there's been little to separate Strasbourg and RC Lens. Lens won 7 games, while Strasbourg won 6 and 7 games ended in a draw.
- RC Lens are without a clean sheet in 17 games.
- 5/6 games ended with less than 10.5 corners.
Analysis and Prediction
I wouldn't take RC Lens' victory over Toulouse to heart. They are still far from the team they used to be and there's a strong indication that Lens might end up on the lower end of the table. Strasbourg on the other hand, are not the best team out there but they are the sort of team to frustrate oppositions especially when they play at home. There's no chance that Strasbourg loses to Lens at home as I expect them to close things down and suffocate Lens' toothless attacking force.
