Atalanta risk missing out on European competitions for the second year in a row. It seemed that the absence of international matches this season would allow the Bergamas to improve their league position and get back into the running for the Champions League. Still, they could again be left with nothing. At the turn of March and April, the Black and Blue began to find their way back, posting a 3-match winning streak. On the last two rounds, they lost 0:2 to Juventus and then failed to beat Salernita 0:1. Now Atalanta is just seventh in the table, one point behind the Eurocup competitions.
Verona continues their desperate battle to remain in Italy's top flight. The Blues started the current season so poorly that by January, their chances of survival seemed minimal. Fortunately, they did not give up but continued to fight for points. Gradually they began to progress in the results, and now they are trying to get out of the relegation zone. In the last seven rounds, they suffered only two defeats, a couple of draws, and three wins. They have now risen to 18th place in the table, with La Spezia - still sitting in 17th place - having 30 points.
Expert Betting Tips
In recent years, Atalanta and Verona have been surprisingly hostile. In the five previous head-to-head encounters, the home side have suffered defeats. The Bianconeri should have a chance to clinch points as they are in good form at the end of the league season, and they have plenty of tournament motivation as they continue their fight for survival. The situation is very different for Bergamo, two defeats in a row have ruined their chances of competing in the Champions League, and the other European competitions probably do not motivate them as much. As a result, we suggest betting on Verona not to lose.
We shouldn't expect high goal-scoring activity from the upcoming clash. Atalanta and Verona have not played a carnival game between them in a long time, and in their last six head-to-head encounters, the bookmakers have only topped them twice in total. Now the Bergamas are again having problems in attack, which has kept them from scoring in two consecutive games. In the last four away games, the Yellow-Blues have been exclusively drawn. With that in mind, a total under 2.5 might be a good bet, and a bet on Simone Verdi's goal is also worth considering.
