Minnesota has been a regular in the NHL playoffs in recent years. The Wild has only missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs once since the 2012/13 season and is coming off a disappointing 2018/19 regular season. We won't see the play-in games again. From the start of the championship, the burgundy and green showed modest results, leading to the sacking of Dean Evason, who was replaced by John Hynes, who initially made some progress, but the St. Paul team continued to drop points. They have won just three of their last seven encounters and lost four times in regulation time, leaving them in tenth place in the Western Conference standings.

This season is only the third in Seattle's history. The first pancake was a failure for the Kraken. They made the playoffs the second year and rebuilt the reigning Stanley Cup champions, but now they have taken a step back. Dave Hakstol's men had a modest start to the regular season, but a nine-game winning streak at the turn of December and January signaled their intention to challenge for the Cup. The Emeralds fell short in April, losing 3:1 to San Jose, 3:1 to Dallas, 3:1 to St. Louis, 3:1 to St. Louis, and 4:3 to Winnipeg to drop 12th place in the Western Conference.

Minnesota and Seattle were unsuccessful in the regular season, so they missed out on the Cup. The Wild had a better season, finishing with eight more points. They will be favorites in the upcoming battle. Obviously, they will try to entertain the crowd with some good hockey in the championship's final game to make the final result a little more palatable. The statistics also favor the Wild, who has won the last four consecutive meetings.

The confrontation between Minnesota and Seattle has been a stingy one of late. In their last five encounters, the rivals have combined to score just 21 goals (an average of 4.20 per game) - a very low figure by NHL standards - and in four of those games, at least one of the teams has scored fewer than two goals. Don't expect a goal-scoring festival in the upcoming clash, especially not from the Krakens, who stopped playing at the end of the regular season.
