Apple releases an advisory urging iPhone 3G users in many countries to replace the device's power adapter following reports that metal prongs broke off and stuck in power outlets, creating a risk of electric shock. Apple said it will exchange the ultra-compact USB adapters for a redesigned model without charge.

Cablevision Systems plans to roll out a system in early 2009 that will let viewers record any show without a DVR, and with only a digital set-top box. Shows will be stored on Cablevision's servers instead of a home DVR _ a shift the company said could save it upward of $700 million.

Online brokerage Scottrade reports its highest-volume trading day ever on last week. The two previous days were also among the eight busiest Scottrade has ever had, as orders were up 60 % from the same week last year.
