Frederic Vasseur, the head of Ferrari, commented on the recent statements made by Lewis Hamilton at the Hungarian Grand Prix. After qualifying, the seven-time world champion described himself as "absolutely useless" and suggested that the team should look for a replacement. Hamilton later confirmed that he was serious about his comments.
I don’t need to motivate him, honestly. He’s frustrated, but not demotivated. It’s a completely different story. Yes, he’s demanding, but I think it’s also why he is a seven-time world champion. That he is demanding with the team, with the car, with the engineers, with the mechanics, with myself also, but first of all, he is very demanding with himself. He'll come back, he'll be fighting again.
Hamilton joined Ferrari at the beginning of 2025, but the season has been challenging for the British driver. He finished 12th at the Hungarian Grand Prix and failed to score points once again. After 14 races, he sits in sixth place in the standings with 109 points.
In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Hamilton expressed that this season has been the worst of his career and admitted that he is looking forward to the chance to take a break from work.
