Thomas Müller Critiques “Surreal” Player Prices in Modern Football

Thomas Müller, the 35-year-old forward for the German football club Bayern Munich, has shared his thoughts on the sky-high prices for players in modern football.

Thomas Müller quoted by CBS
Can you imagine €150 million? It’s surreal. You can’t even buy Neymar, but you could plant a lot of trees with that money. You could do really great things with €150 million.

In 2017, Brazilian forward Neymar transferred from Barcelona to PSG for €222 million, a fee that remains the highest in football history.

At the beginning of June, Transfermarkt named Barcelona midfielder and Spanish national team player Lamine Yamal the world's most expensive footballer, setting his market value at €200 million. Close behind him are Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé, as well as Erling Haaland from Manchester City, each valued at €180 million.

Earlier, The Sun reported that Cristiano Ronaldo signed the largest contract in sports history, extending his agreement with Saudi club Al-Nassr.
