Cyclist Lizzie Deignan mastered the 116+ kilometer Paris-Roubaix cobble course to come on top in the first-ever women’s Paris-Roubaix race. The Britisher broke away from stalwart Marianne Vos to finish at the top. Lizzie created around a two-minute separation with the other cyclists with around 79 km to spare in the race. Also, known as the “hell of the north”, the Paris-Roubaix track is famous for its cobbles.

The participants of the event had to deal with a lot of muddy conditions caused by the rain. As the cyclists battled harsh conditions, Marianne Vos tried to catch up with her eternal rival Lizzie and even gritted her teeth, exerting an overwhelming amount of influence on the pedal, coming as close as a minute. However, the Britisher held her nerve and kept the separation from other cyclists for more than 75+ kilometers.
